As Wix announced the discontinuation of their built-in forum product, I took the lead in building a fully custom forum/community platform using Wix Velo (JavaScript).

Our Role:

Requirement Analysis & Planning: Studied the existing Wix Forum features and client expectations to plan a scalable and user-friendly solution.

Custom Database Design: Structured dynamic collections for Users, Threads, Comments, Likes, Notifications, and Permissions.

Frontend Development: Designed intuitive UI components for forum listing, post creation, replies, and nested comments — all built using Wix elements and Velo code.

Authentication & Roles: Integrated custom member access logic to support guest, member, moderator, and admin roles.

Notification System: Developed real-time alerts for likes, replies, and mentions using Wix events and scheduled jobs.

Performance Optimization: Used query limits, dataset filtering, and conditional rendering to maintain fast loading and smooth UX.

Admin Panel: Created a custom backend dashboard for content moderation, user management, and analytics.

This solution was a complete replacement for Wix Forum — giving the client full control, flexibility, and long-term independence.
